Spamfilter settings

Each mailbox created in our system is created by setting a default spam filter. The strength of this is designed to suit day-to-day use, but of course there may be occasions when it needs to be changed. This can be changed individually for each mailbox afterwards.

A typical request is to change the strength of spam filtering:

• Too many spam mails arrive in the mailbox, so they want to set a stronger filtering.
• More mail is filtered out that they would have liked to receive.

It is important to note that our system has global spam filtering, so only the spam filtering threshold can be changed, there is no white or black list.

How to modify the spam filter:

Step 1:

Go to the Web Hosting Settings and select the menu item Spamfilter settings (menu item 2 from the bottom).

Step 2:

• In the first step, choose what to do with the emails marked as SPAM (delete, image delivery, deactivate spam filter)
• Set the spam filter threshold number
• All email addresses used are listed at the bottom of the page with a checkbox at the end. Select the email address(es) for which you want to make changes.
• To finalise the settings, click on the button "Set all marked email accounts!

When changing the threshold number, the following points should be taken into account:

• If you want stronger spam filtering
  • The threshold number should be set lower than this so that more mail will be stopped by the spam filter
    
    
• If you want weaker spam filtering
  • The threshold number should be increased, so that more and more mail will arrive due to poorer spam filtering.

To weakening the threshold score, it is recommended to check under filtered spam to see what score the mail you wish to receive has received. This can be found in the last column of the filtered mail. So if you want to receive the mail in the future, you should set a higher score.
