Virtual FTP settings

What is the Virtual FTP User for?

Virtual FTP is all about creating a user that can be used to grant restricted access to anyone on the hosting site.

With this solution, you do not need to log in to the client gateway to authenticate the IP address, you just need to enter the pair of passwords you have created to connect to FTP. And the login will only be allowed for the directory that was specified at the time of creation.

Rules for creating a virtual FTP user:

  • Before creating an FTP user, the initial directory must be created

  • The initial directory is relative to the home directory and always starts with /

In other words, if you want to assign a virtual FTP user to a directory on your hosting, e.g. "alma.hu", the starting directory of the user should be /alma.hu

  • The user ID you create will always be composed of the prefix you specify and the @directory identifier part, i.e. "id@www"

  • By default, all rights are granted, but you can restrict this at any time by checking the appropriate boxes.

  • To change the password, enter the new password (include upper and lower case letters and numbers)
