After FTP login I see an empty directory list, what could be the problem? - (550 PWD: no such file or directory)

I get 550 PWD: no such file or directory error message when logging into FTP

The reason why you could not log in to our server is that we have put restrictions on FTP connections due to the spread of password-stealing viruses. This means that you can currently only connect to the FTP server from uniquely authorised IP addresses (even if you know your username and password). If you see an empty directory list after a successful login, please do the following:

1. FTP GATE active

- Log in to the Web Hosting Settings, which automatically enables your current IP address. There is nothing else to do in this case.

2. FTP IP COLLECTION active (FTP GATE not active)

- Log in to the Web Hosting Settings

- Select FTP IP ADDRESSING and read the description there.

- Expand the enabled IP/HOST fields based on the information in the "Details of your current Internet connection" section. You may want to enter the first two or three members of the IP address shown there. If you have a FIX IP address, you can also enter the full address.

- Click on "Save the setting".
As you probably have a dynamic IP address, you will need to make this setting a few more times. Always add new rows to the permissions as you make changes, so that after you have entered a few domains, you probably won't need to enter any more.

You may also have only occasionally managed to log in to our FTP server. This can happen because IP addresses provided by your ISP sometimes include a hostname and sometimes not, so the default .hu authorization may not always be appropriate for logging in. In this case the problem is also solved by enabling the IP address range as described in the steps above.

For the most effective protection, you can always specify only the current full IP address, even for dynamic IP addresses.
